Open Water SCUBA Diver Training

Course Description:

The Open Water training course is the first level of training a diver completes.  Upon completion, the diver is a certified SCUBA diver and can enjoy the privilege of diving almost anywhere in the world.  This course will teach the diver:

  • Safe use of SCUBA gear
  • Physics and physiology of diving
  • Use of dive tables
  • Entry and exit techniques
  • Salt and fresh water diving
  • Dive buddy system
  • Underwater communications
  • Marine biology and human interaction

Course Requirements:

The Open Water training course takes 2.5 weeks to complete and requires the following equipment to be provided by the diver:

  • Mask
  • Snorkel
  • Fins
  • Weight belt and weights
  • Booties
  • Course book package, includes training manual, log book, dive tables, pen, highlighter, and season promotional literature

Optionally, the student can provide the following equipment:

  • Dive bag
  • Gloves
  • Mask defog
  • Light
  • Slate
  • Save-A-Dive kit
